This article will walk you through the creation of a new Tracker step by step.
Activate the Tracker service
To be able to use trackers in your project, you must first check that the service is activated.
Go to the project admin area, in the "Services" tab, select the "Trackers" service and activate it.
Check out our article Introduction to Tuleap Services for a detailed demo of how to activate a service in a Tuleap project.
All the trackers of the project will be accessible by selecting the "Trackers" service in the services menu.
All that's left to do is select the tracker you want to use.
Create a Tracker
Warning
You must be a project administrator to create a new tracker
To create a new Tracker, simply click on ![]()
Two steps are then necessary:
Choose a model
Name your tracker.
When creating a tracker, you have the option to select a template from the templates stored in the platform or the trackers created in the other projects you administer.
There are 3 types:
The templates defined by your company in the "Custom templates" section

The default templates provided by the Tuleap editor

Templates for advanced users

In this part, you can choose to use:
A tracker of an existing project of which you are the administrator.
This means that you can reuse a tracker that you have already set up for another project.
Warning!
This copies only the configuration, not the artifacts.
An empty tracker: allows you to create a tracker from scratch. You will have to select the different types of fields you want to use as well as the semantics and permissions you want to apply to the tracker.
An XML file: if you have the structure of an XML tracker, from another project or platform, you can import it.
For more information, see the article on import-export in XML.
The "From Jira" option : allows you to import your existing tickets from a Jira server to your newly created Tracker on Tuleap
To finalize the creation of a tracker you must fill in:
Name: will be displayed in Tuleap
Color: you can choose the color that will be used in the different parts of Tuleap
Description (optional): allows you to define the usefulness of the tracker, its role and the information that will be stored on it.
Short name (predefined): it references the elements inside the tracker.
If the short name already exists, Tuleap will automatically offer you to change it.

Once the Tracker is created, you will be automatically redirected to the main page of the new Tracker.
