Widgets are dynamic information blocks that constitute the core of your Dashboards in Tuleap. They act as windows onto the platform's different services, allowing you to visualize and interact with your data without having to navigate into each tool individually.
Whether it is to monitor the progress of a sprint, track the latest critical bugs, or quickly access your favorite tools, widgets offer a synthetic and customizable view of your activity.
The use of widgets serves three main objectives:
Centralization: aggregating data from various sources on a single page.
Steering: offering visual indicators for decision-making.
Productivity: creating shortcuts to the most used elements (e.g., "My ongoing tasks").
The different display contexts
Widgets in Tuleap do not live in isolation; they are integrated into specific dashboards. It is crucial to distinguish between the two environments where you can use them, as their scope and audience differ radically.
The personal dashboard
This space is private and specific to each user. No one else but you can see your personal dashboard.
Scope: Transverse. It can aggregate data coming from all projects of which you are a member.
Typical usage: individual work management.
Lists of tasks assigned to you (across all projects).
Pending code review requests.
Shortcuts to your favorite projects.
Etc.
The project dashboard
This space is your project's homepage. It is public for all project members (and potentially for all platform users, depending on project permissions). It serves to align the team on a common vision.
Scope: limited to the current project's data.
Typical usage: team steering and communication.
Roadmap.
Latest information regarding the project.
Etc.
Important note
Only Project Administrators have the right to modify the project dashboard (add, configure, or delete widgets). Any modification made here is immediately visible to all team members.
Management and customization
Although the fundamental operation of widgets is identical everywhere, the management of their layout and the permissions required to add/modify them vary depending on whether you are modifying your private space or the team's common space.
To find out how to add, configure, or reorganize widgets, consult the guide corresponding to your need:
Personal Dashboard Overview : learn how to build your personal homepage to centralize your daily tasks and shortcuts.
Project Dashboards Overview : discover the global operation of a project, the management of its visibility (public/private), and the organization of the homepage where widgets shared with the team are displayed.
