In this section, you will learn about Tuleap's Backlog tool.
The Backlog Planning Tool
The Backlog tool is a project planning and tracking tool.
It allows you to give short- and medium-term visibility to your projects. You will be able to plan the milestones of your project in advance and monitor its progress on a daily basis.
Tuleap provides you with templates to manage projects with the Scrum method, but you can configure the tool to also manage Agile, Hybrid, Waterfall projects, etc. .
How do I set up the Backlog tool for Scrum?
If you haven't used Backlog yet, a project management tool template based on the Scrum method will be initialized.
You can of course modify or adapt it at any time according to your use and needs.

The Backlog lists all the items in the project that need to be scheduled.
You can add:
Objects (or tasks) in your backlog: left side
Milestones to your project: right side

How to set up your Backlog?
Note that we will rely on the Scrum methodology here using Epic and User Story trackers. However, you are free to create and use other trackers as per your needs.
Create Epics
An epic is a category that designates a specific problem, such as the safety of a vehicle for example, or an engine problem.
Create User Stories
Practical information
You can assign a weight to each item. This weight is related to the cost of manufacturing. The unit will depend on how you will use the tool.
Add a task to your User Story
Select the User Story you're interested in and add your task.
Practical information
You can easily manage and move your tasks across the different User Stories using drag and drop.
Add milestones to your project
Then assign the total capacity available to the customer when completing this delivery.
Schedule items in your milestones.
To schedule an item in a delivery/deadline, simply drag and drop that item into the right milestone.
The sum of the effort of the items added to your jalon will be compared to the production capacity related to the milestone itself. If the initial effort is greater than the capacity, a colored reminder will highlight the excess.

Three views can be displayed from a milestone:
Overview : displays the milestone summary
Planning : dllows you to break down the milestone into secondary milestones
Taskboard : displays the status of items in a Taskboard
Note that it is possible, via the settings, to use a Cardwall, but the Taskboard is the most recent version.
The overview lists all the elements attached to the milestone as well as the Burnup and Burndown of the milestone.
Burnup: shows the progress of the milestone
Burndown : displays the remaining to be done.
The Taskboard displays the status of individual tasks and allows action to be tracked.
